Here's video of the fireworks fail at the Hudson Valley Renegades game on Friday night. Forward to 1:50 to see the first problem firework fly through the fence and down the 3rd base line. The real scary one happens at 2:28 when a rocket zooms over the spectators' heads and lands on top of one of the luxury boxes.
The incident is currently under investigation.
Update: Here's video from a much closer point of view

Fireworks are explosives, why are people so surprised when they explode the wrong way? Another reason they are illegal for use by non-professionals. Because even professionals have problems sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThey should have suspended the fireworks after the first misfire.
ReplyDeletenever go with the lowest bidder.
ReplyDeletelol they went with the lowest bidder
ReplyDeletethis could have been so much worse, thank god no one was hurt....most people stayed calm.
ReplyDeleteIt felt like they were shooting way to close to the crowd (especially close to the people on the 3rd base line like us) just in case something went wrong. And then it did. I will never attend a show at the "dutch" when they have fireworks unless I know that they have changed the location of where they light the "explosives". People should feel safe when attending the ballpark.
