This is the reason why I love this damn show... I really have no idea where this thing is going now. I've predicted some big stuff this season, but now I'm done with the predictions for the finale, and I'm just along for the ride. Only Jacob knows what's going to happen! Speaking of... why is Locke going to kill Jacob? Is he going to hunt him down and kill him, or is he really just doing what Jacob wants him to do... remember Jacob said to Locke "Help Me". Perhaps it's a mercy killing that will release him from some weird limbo state he's in. OK, one quick prediction - Jacob will wind up being Jack in the final scene of the season. I have no reason why, but that would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?
Alright, what's with the compass? I'm figuring out a timeline here (which is getting more and more difficult on Lost). First Richard gives Locke the compass during his time flashes when he takes the bullet out of his leg at the plane. Then, when Locke flashes back to the 50's he confronts Richard and gives him the compass. The compass then travels through time normally. Richard visits Locke as a child makes him choose from several objects for the one that belongs to him. He chooses the knife and not the compass, so Richard leaves in a huff. Finally, 40 years later, Richard gives Locke the original compass when they are talking on the beach. A bit later, Richard gives time-traveling Locke the newer version of the same compass when they meet at the plane. Got it? Me neither.
I don't like Kate this season. She's not nearly as hot as she was in the past seasons... and now she's putting a wrench in the works while sit-there-and-do-nothing Jack finally starts to take some action. Why doesn't she want to create a variable that will change their past? That's easy: if they never land on the island she spends the rest of her life in jail alone.
That was the worst computer generated submarine I've ever seen. Stupid and unnecessary.
And the ship in the bottle? The Black Rock for sure.
One whole week until the 2-hour finale... which will no-doubt leave us with even more questions to ponder all summer. I'm kind of glad we're going to get a break, my brain can't take much more of this. Time for less intellectually stimulating TV - I'm gonna give my mind a much needed Big Brother coma.

If Jacob really does turn out to be Jack...That will totally just screw with my mind for a long time lol.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about Kate is totally true. Last night I was watching the show and I was like damn, she really is not that cute in this season.
I would also like to know how Richard and Elli got the bomb down there. I am gonna say it was the smoke monster, I am just curious as to how they control it.
And finally, I would like to just say that I am happy Sayid is back. I have been curious as to where he has been the past couple weeks. Guess he was just chillin in the jungle keepin tabs on everyone. (He is absolutely my favortie character).
Cant wait for next week!
Is Sawyer going to try for a menage on the sub?
ReplyDeleteYea, I am finally LOST.
Are you going to give a daily Big Brother after Dark update on here? With Pics? :-)
Honestly, I think they are purposely making Kate less attractive to make her less likable this season. The opposite goes for Juliette. Kate doesn't want Jack to stop history because, of course, she goes back to LA and to Prison forever. She got on the sub to tell Sawyer and Juliette this, knowing that they will not want the past destroyed, and hoping that they would be able to turn around and stop psycho-Jack.
ReplyDeleteSawyer Quotes:
"We'll buy microsoft"
"Good riddance"
Love it when he calls the sub captain 'Nemo'.
Besides- Sawyer has to go back to kill the guy that hit Juliette (forgot his name).
So- I do have a prediction. I think that Jack will be set on detonating the bomb, he'll volunteer to do it himself (believing that when he does it, the explosion which would kill him won't because time will be changed) and just as he is about to do it, Locke will do something in his time to suck the time-lost losties back to the present, and Jack will be unable to detonate the bomb. Because, as stated in the show, you can't change the past- unless you're Faraday and/or Desmond.
Now this is where it gets weird. IF Jack was able to detonate the bomb, and it worked, then flight 815 would've made it to LA, and never put Jack on the island. If Jack was never on the island, then he couldn't have gotten stranded in the '70s, and couldn't have set the bomb off. So- you can't change the past, because if you did, you'd never go back in time to change it. Make sense?
Hurley rules. He's so easy to fool. Dr. Chang outwitted him in 15 seconds. Had me cracking up.
As soon as Ben mentioned that he wasn't going to stage a coup, you knew he was planning something.
I do like what Boris said about Jacob being in some kind of libmo, or agony. It would make sense. I'm thinking that maybe the Island 'chose' the man who is Jacob, as it 'chose' Locke. Ben was kind of forced upon the island, by Alpert, and so Ben really isn't 'in tune' with the island. Ben kept Jacob alive to 'speak' to the island for him, and Jacob is in agony. Locke IS in tune with the island, so he can put Jacob out of his misery, and properly lead.
Last thing- WOW- where did they find a guy that looked THAT much like Widmore to be young Widmore?!
Boris - how the hell do you remember all those little details from past episodes & seasons??? When Richard visits young Locke to see if he "remembered" Richard? Wow...I'm always impressed!
ReplyDeleteWill we ever find out what happened to Ben as a kid that changed him to evil Ben?
How can Jack be on the island detonating the bomb and in the plane that DOESN'T go off course at the same time? The same goes for Locke - wasn't there a white flash when he disappeared from Richard after the bullet thing? This time there was just some stupid pop sound?
And why are Ellie and Dr. Chang so quick to believe the whole time travel thing?
And where the hell has the smoke monster been? It was this big threat in the very beginning and now, nada?
And how/why did some of the people go back to the 70's and some stay in the present?
And what ever happened with the Danielle story line?
And yes, the first thing I thought about that sub was, OMG SO FAKE!!
Oh, and maybe Kate is not as hot because she's in a jumpsuit and didn't have her mascara on.
Whew...I love LOST, but man it's getting pretty heavy!
Holy crap, CT... Do you pay attention to ANYTHING?
ReplyDeleteHa ha, yes, VOC, but jeez...I do have other things in life to focus on other than LOST. (Was that a collective gasp from the LOST crowd? Stop it or you'll sound like a bunch of Trekkies or Star Wars nerds!)
ReplyDeleteThank god Boris gives the recap.
And what's wrong with Trekkies or Star Wars nerds?
ReplyDeleteResponding to a few of CT's questions:
The producers have stated in their podcast that they will not be providing more details as to what precisely happened to young Ben to turn him evil. It's implied that whatever happened to him
with the Others in the temple after he had been shot would irreversibly corrupt him.
Ellie is willing to believe the time traveling Faraday because she saw the same exact man 20 years apart. Faraday was carrying a full diary with her own handwriting in it which she hasn't written in yet. In the Lost universe, that's way more evidence than necessary.
Chang believes in time travel because he's a scientist and been studying the high energy pockets on the island. He also meets his son Miles as an adult. As Hurley points out, what are the odds that an adult Chinese man named Miles arrives with another man claiming to be from the future?
The smoke monster made two huge appearances this season! Smokey came out while Danielle was with her crew in the 80s and he was back out for Ben's judgement in the Temple.
I think Danielle's story is pretty much wrapped up. This season's flashing thru the early part of her journey answers a lot of the open questions from seasons one and two.
Can't wait for Wednesday!
i went back and looked at episode 4x11, where locke and richard meet when he's a child. lock selects 3 items, the compass, the sand and the knife. what i'm trying to figure out is if that was the same knife he killed Niomi with after climbing out of the death pit.
